TEAMS COMING TO PLANT CITY FROM SIX COUNTRIES
Event Next Weekend is Free and Open to the Public
Coed softball teams from six different countries will compete October 8, 9, & 10 in the International Softball Federation’s (ISF) II Slow Pitch World Cup in Plant City, Florida (USA). The games will take place in Plant City Stadium and the Randy L. Larson Softball Fourplex on the grounds of the ISF’s world headquarters facility. There will be no parking or admission charge for spectators.
The event will consist of teams from the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, and USA. The ISF is expecting the total participation to be at or near a dozen teams. There will be two pools, and games – set to start every two hours – will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday the 8th and at 9 a.m. on Sunday the 9th, with the last games of the day scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on the first day and 5 p.m. on Day Two. On the final day, Monday the 10th, game times will be 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1:30 p.m.
The 1st Slow Pitch World Cup took place in June 2002 at the ISF facility. Great Britain comes in as the defending champion.
One of the USA entries is a local (Plant City) team (A.F. Masonry).
ISF President Don Porter will be on-hand at the II Slow Pitch World Cup, fresh off his trip to Lausanne, Switzerland, to meet with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge (October 4) regarding the 2012 Olympic Program situation.

The International Softball Federation, the world governing body for the sport of softball, has its headquarters facility located at 1900 So. Park Road in Plant City, with Plant City Stadium and the Randy L. Larson Softball Fourplex immediately adjacent to the administration building.
