HOW TO GET AN ISF COACHING COURSE/CLINIC:

If you’re interested in conducting a coaching course/clinic and think you might need ISF support in order to do so then you should follow the steps listed below:

  1. Accurately assess the level of course that you need.
  2. Complete the ISF Development Request Form (DRF).
  3. Obtain authorization and approval from your national softball federation/association.
  4. Have your federation return the completed DRF to the ISF;

STEP 1 - ASSESSING YOUR COURSE / CLINIC NEED
#1) Course Level:

Beginning/Entry Level
(first year coaches or teachers, or coaches new to softball)

  • Your first option with this level course is to see if your national team coach (if you have one) or your most advanced level coach is knowledgeable enough or capable of conducting this course for you internally.
  • If option #1 is not available then go now to the next step in assessing your course needs:  #2) Date Selection

Intermediate Level
(teachers and coaches who have a few years experience coaching softball)

  • Your first option is again to see if your national team coach (or one of them if you happen to have more than one national team coach) is capable of conducting a course for these coaches.  Keep in mind that this will depend on the experience and knowledge level of your national team coach in addition to how receptive your coaches might be to listening to one of their own.
  • If option #1 is not available then go now to the next step in assessing your course needs:  #2) Date Selection

Advanced Level
(national team coach or elite level club team coach)

  • This level coach needs to attend one of the ISF Coaching Colleges, either the ISF/NFCA International Coaching College or one of the ISF-sponsored NFCA Coaching College Courses conducted in the United States for 2006.

#2) Course Date Selection:
(only continue here if you cannot fulfill your coaching course needs within your own country using your own national team coach)

If your request for an ISF Coaching Course is approved please keep in mind that instructor availability is the critical factor.  We will do our best to locate a qualified instructor that’s available during the time of year you prefer and for the length of time you request, but know that flexibility is the key and adjustments might need to be made.

To help us locate the right instructor for your course, please consider the following:

MONTH & WEEK THAT YOU PREFER YOUR COURSE/CLINIC TO BE HELD:

Choice #1: (month) ___ preferred week: ___
Choice #2: (month) ___ preferred week: ___
Choice #2: (month) ___ preferred week: ___

PLEASE RANK ORDER THE SKILLS & TOPICS YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR COURSE TO FOCUS ON: (Rank them 1 to 6 with 1 being the item you want taught the most and 6 the one least important)

___ Hitting (explain in detail)
___ Pitching (explain in detail)
___ Individual Defensive Skills (explain)
___ Team Defense (explain)
___ All Skills (explain)
___ Other Skills (explain)

STEP 2 - COMPLETE THE ISF DEVELOPMENT REQUEST FORM (DRF)

Every new request for development assistance that the ISF receives from one of our member federations must be accompanied by a completed Development Request Form.

STEP 3 - OBTAIN AUTHORIZATION AND APPROVAL FROM YOUR NATIONAL SOFTBALL FEDERATION/ASSOCIATION

Please know that the ISF works directly with our member federations and not with individual teams and/or coaches.  If you’re reading this and are an individual club team coach, then you must first contact your national softball federation/association regarding your development assistance request.  For a list of all ISF member federations, click here.

STEP 4 - HAVE YOUR FEDERATION RETURN THEIR COMPLETED DEVELOPMENT REQUEST FORM ALONG WITH A NOTE THAT INCLUDES THEIR ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS ABOVE REGARDING MONTH & WEEK PREFERENCES & RANKED SKILLS & TOPICS TO THE ISF, EITHER BY EMAIL OR FAX:
