Over 150 female athletes from ten countries will soon head for Plant City,
Florida to compete in the 1st World University Softball Championship, which is
scheduled for October 26-31. Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei,
Guatemala, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Uganda, and USA will all compete.
The game schedule and the team rosters have all been added to the page on our

In addition to the details in the September 30 press release, it has also been
learned that there is another “closer to home” tie besides the three
mentioned. One of the pitchers on Canada’s roster is Sarah Belanger, who plays
at Florida International University (Miami). Plus, 12 out of the 17 players on
the Russian team that will compete at the World University Softball
Championship have been identified as having represented their country in the
first event played in the Olympic Softball Stadium in Greece, the Athens
International Softball Tournament this past March 24-28.
The World University Softball Championship is sanctioned by the International
University Sports Federation (FISU).
