Botswana was one of four teams playing in the Jr. Women's World Championship for the first time.

Australia's pitching staff finished with a combined total 1.52 earned run average, third best among the 16 teams.

Jenna Caira pitches in what would be Canada's final game, a 4-1 playoff loss to Venezuela. The 18-year old went the full seven innings, striking out nine batters.

Another run scores for Germany in their wild 8-6 win over South Africa on Day 4.

Japan's 3-0 playoff loss on the second-last day was the first time a team had beaten Japan at an ISF Jr. Women's World Championship since the gold medal game of the 1995 event, ending a streak of 26 straight wins.

Team USA's Megan Elliott is all smiles after having just received her gold medal during Closing Ceremonies, shortly after having been the winning pitcher in the gold medal game.
