2010-01-12
A high level course for coaches began yesterday and runs through and including Friday (January 15) at the South American, Central American and Caribbean Regional Softball Center, which operates in the complex of the Dominican Federation of Softball (Fedosa), at the Center Olympic Juan Pablo Duarte. The facility is one of the International Softball Federation’s regional training centers.
The course is being conducted by Argentina’s Eduardo Sabaté, who is an ISF instructor and also is head coach of the Argentina men’s national team.
The instructor is the father of Francisco Sabaté, who has participated in two of the five editions of the Dominican fast pitch league.
The course is being coordinated by Fedosa Secretary General Dr. Alfredo Perez, who indicated that the course will cover the fundamentals and general technical matters as well as the rule changes that were approved during the last ISF Congress, held this past October on Margarita Island (Venezuela) where Dr. Perez was participating as a representative of Dominican softball.
A total of 25 coaches were expected from around the country for this week’s course, including the technical body of the national teams, plus five umpires and the Cuban technicians who work for Fedosa, Ubando Alvarez and Roger Baez.
The leader said that this course will serve to give character to the use of the Regional Center for the Development of Softball, and that the Dominican technicians with the knowledge taken from this course shall be made to serve to the countries in Central America and the Caribbean. Perez is the vice president of the Pan American Softball Confederation for the Central America and Caribbean area.
