The first games of the II Pan American Softball Championship for Girls are scheduled for this Friday, November 10, in Puerto Rico. Argentina, Aruba, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, USA, and Venezuela are all expected to take part in the upcoming Pan Am event. Friday’s first game will see Ecuador take on Aruba at 12:30.
Berths in the top softball event of 2007 will go to the top five finishers at the tournament being put on by the Pan American Softball Confederation. (Italy, the Netherlands, and Russia were the qualifiers from the European Championship held three months ago.)
USA is the defending Pan American champion, having defeated Canada, 2-0, in the Grand Final at the 1st Championship four years ago in Mexico.
