ive more teams have qualified for the International Softball Federation’s (ISF) VIII Jr. Women’s World Championship (19-and-under), which will take place next June (20-30) in Kutno,Poland.  The latest countries to gain berths in next year’s event clinched a spot through the II Pan American Softball Championship for Girls that wrapped up this past weekend in Puerto Rico.

Headed to the 2007 ISF event are USA, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Canada, and Argentina.  The United States defeated Puerto Rico, 7-0, in the gold medal game, with Venezuela having taken the bronze by virtue of the 2-0 decision that advanced Puerto Rico to the title game against the Americans.

The tournament’s other participants were Aruba, Colombia, Ecuador, and Netherlands Antilles.

Previous teams to qualify so far for the VIII Jr. Women’s World Championship were, from Europe, Italy, the Netherlands, and Russia, and, from Asia, Japan, the Philippines, and (South) Korea.  Additional teams will come from the Africa and Oceania regions.

Japan is the defending ISF Jr. Women’s World Champion.
