2007-06-22

They're into Day 3 in Enschede, Netherlands, at the International Softball Federation’s (ISF) VIII Jr. Women’s World Championship (19-and-under, fast pitch). The event, which is held every four years, concludes on June 30.

The 19-and-under national team from the following 16 countries are competing: Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Africa, USA, and Venezuela.

Japan is the defending champion.

Live webcasts were done of the Opening Ceremonies two nights ago as well as the first game of the tournament (Netherlands vs. Germany). There are also webcams at each of the two fields, allowing live look-ins on the games, and daily highlights are being produced too, with postings on YouTube. (Online broadcasts of the bronze medal game, the gold medal game, and Closing Ceremonies are scheduled for June 30.)

Box scores are available online of the completed games, and the Our National Team category in the message board section of our website allows you to post comments about the tournament and/or your favorite team.

To check for reports from an individual team perspective, visit the team’s website by selecting their country name from the bottom of this page.

The action from Enschede continues on!
