TASK FORCE FORMATION A PRIORITY
2006-09-12
Just under two weeks ago, a Strategic
Task Force was part of an announcement made by the International Softball Federation (ISF) during the 2006 Women’s World Championship in Beijing. Now that the event in China is in the books, appointing members to the Strategic Task Force is high on the “to do” list at the ISF’s world headquarters.
The new group will provide guidance and direction toward regaining Olympic status for softball. The make-up is expected to be not only ISF officials, but International Olympic Committee (IOC) representatives, as well as individuals from National Olympic Committees, the corporate/private sector, government entities, and media & athletes.
The overall plan for the Task Force is currently under review and is projected to be moved into the action phase by early October.
Softball is eligible to apply in 2009 for a spot on the programme of the 2016 Olympic Games. A vote will take place during the IOC Session in Denmark.
