SOFTBALL VIDEO CONTENT ONLINE
2008-02-07
The promotional video for Back Softball, the International Softball Federation’s (ISF) Olympic reinstatement campaign, is one of seven choices now available to watch online.
Women’s Sports Cares, an organization whose mission is “to help facilitate the information, the knowledge, and contacts necessary to move all women’s sports forward,” is in the formative stages of Women’s Sports Television (WSTV), a channel that they hope to launch in the near future. As part of the buildup, content is being gathered, with programming from softball some of the first that has been acquired for this project. Thanks to a WSTV partnership with Suncastv.com, the videos acquired so far are already being aired on the Internet.
For the international softball community, the efforts to-date now provide the ability to watch not only the Back Softball video online, but both medal games from last year’s ISF VIII Jr. Women’s World Championship (19-and-under, fast pitch) in the Netherlands and four games from the ISF XI Women’s World Championship in 2006 in China (the two medal games plus two playoff games). The 13-minute Back Softball promo includes action footage, athlete testimonials, media coverage, and more.
“We certainly welcome the opportunity to cooperate with an organization that promotes women’s sports,” said ISF President Don Porter. “This is just one of a number of ways that we’re working to get more and more people exposed to softball. Thanks to Women’s Sports Cares and their television initiative and their partnerships, our sport is reaching an even larger audience that we know is out there looking for more access to our activities and events.”
In addition to the World Wide Web and the involvement of an international organization like the ISF, WSTV has also partnered with United Kingdom-based WomenSportReport.com to assist in collecting programming from women's sports teams and selling sponsorships to sports-related companies located in Europe and Asia. In the meantime, Internet users around the globe can start logging on today to see international softball content from their home, office, or neighborhood café!
