Oue main areas of concern are equipment, uniforms, technical (coaching and umpiring) and and we also require financial assistance. We need to give our upcoming star players the exposure they require to become world class softballers. All those willing to come to our aid are very welcome and their help will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a young lady who played softball on the Nigerian women’s national softball team. She and I used to correspond via e-mail, and 3-4 years ago she expressed her interest in coming to the USA to play. At that time, I was unable to help her in getting here to do that. Now, there is an organization that may be able to help prospective women players from countries outside the USA come here and play. I lost contact with the Nigerian young lady a few years ago and have not been able to find her again. I believe her name is Bukola Ladokun, and her nickname is Bookie Ladokun. If anyone knows how to contact her, please let me know. Thanks.

I presently live in the USA but played on the Belize national team from 1978 to 1989. It was during that period that Belize won two bronze medals at the Pan American Games, and as a small nation of 150,000 people I must say one of our biggest and proudest moment was defeating the USA 2-1 during the Pan Am Games in Puerto Rico. I must say however that the USA have dominated Womens Softball, and for most countries defeating them is always an honor. The Belize team, surely took it that way!!!

I glad I could get to your website and better still to your messaged board. I am sure you have noticed that I am from Zimbabwe and I am excited to read in our local newspaper (The Hearld, last Thursday)that you will be having a tournament from Dec 9-11. I am only diturbed to have noticed that our Zimbabwean National team has not properly trained for such a prestigiuos tournament and further more to learn that the National Association is running round trying to get Corperate sponsorship which we all know is not there. I last played the game 12 years ago and I am really looking forward to this tournamentI hope to be rejoing the softball family agin sometime in the near future. It will have been a nice thing to have you as an International body assist the Host country in the Hosting of such a tournament. Our government is broke and maybe our National Federation is too shy to mention that to you. There is noway it will be getting anything from our Sports Controlling Board I would be happy to go to the Dream Park and hear that ISF has assisted. Keep up the good work and sometime back I read that you had donated some shoes and equipment in Zimbabwe. Thank you.

I’ve had the pleasure of watching Lisa Fernandes and her teammates live at the 1998 World Champs in Japan in the final against Australia. The standard of Softball was so high then, and although the South African team didn’t do well there we certainly learned a lot from the whole experience. Softball is still improving albeit at a very small rate in my country, and I hope that by the next World Champs in Beijing we will give some teams a run for theur money - and of course I wish to be there to participate in my favourite sport. Let us strive together to make our sport, Softball, one of the best in the world.

Our greatest appreciation to ISF for the responding positively to our appeal of kit as we have embarked on our National team rebuilding exercise. Zimbabwe thanks the ISF. It is unfortunate that the IOC does not acknowledge the hard working by the softball community. Anyway we are now appealling to well wish to assist our team financially as the country can not support the program. The team is scheduled to travel to Botswana for some games early September but the Sport Authourity can not assist. We are also supposed to camping and practising for our Africa Zone world qualifiers in December 8-10 in Harare. Also, I don’t think that they would have gotten anywhere without their amazing pitching staff, and overall everyone on the team always contributes to helping them win like they do. Team USA is awesome. Having said that, I have something to say about Lisa Fernandez. There’s no doubt that Lisa was a major factor in making Team USA what it is today. She has helped Team USA dominate International softball, including 3 straight Olympic Gold Medals and numerous World Championships. She has proven that she is one of the best players ever to have played on the U.S. National Team. With softball being eliminating from the Olympics after 2008, it would be a grand gesture on her part to step aside and give one of the younger players a chance to win what could one be the last Olympic Medals awarded in International Softball.
